The PGD HSEM is a one-year programme that is comprised of two semesters. The programme comprises courses like Construction Safety, Safety Management, Safety Legislation, Occupational Health, Environmental Management and Industrial Safety for developing sufficient knowledge to serve in the health, safety, and environment domain. Along with the specific domain-related courses, the programme offers knowledge to enhance communication skills and the latest trends like data analysis for safety management. This programme not only helps minimize the impact on the environment and improve worker safety and well-being but also can improve employee retention and productivity and enhance the company's brand image spurring customer and corporate growth. A host of pedagogical approaches, such as case studies, lectures, group, and individual exercises, etc., enrich the programme delivery. Site visits are organized as and when required. Every student will also have the chance to complete a project that is associated with the health, safety, and environmental management domain.

The PGD HSEM program comprises domain-specific courses on Construction Safety, Safety Management, Safety Legislation, Occupational Health, Environmental Management and Industrial Safety to develop sufficient knowledge of students to serve in the health, safety, and environment domain.

Semester 1
In this phase, instructor provide basic and fundamental knowledge in health safety management, engineering controls, legislation, occupational health, and construction safety.
Also, this semester offers a course on managerial communication to improve communication skills. The learners will also get an opportunity to select a MOOC course as per their choice of interest and also a mini project seminar.

In this phase, courses focus on advanced levels of safety interventions, safety in various industries, quality control, and environmental and ergonomics aspects of safety.
The project work in the health, safety, and environmental management domain allows the learners to demonstrate their problem-solving skills through the completion of the project.

Our leader
Prof. Vishnu Namboodiri V, Program Head, PGD HSEM
Prof. Vishnu Namboodiri V, as Assistant Professor in June 2018. His area of research interest is related to energy systems and their optimization for build environments. He has 4+ years of industrial experience in the energy field. In reference to his academic profile, currently, he is pursuing a Ph.D. in renewable energy at IIT Delhi. He pursued M Tech (Master's) in Energy Systems Analysis, and Design from Government Engineering College, Kozhikode, Kerala, India, in 2015 and also holds an undergraduate degree B. E (Bachelor's) in Mechanical Engineering, from SCAD CET (Anna University, Chennai, India) in 2012. He contributed numerous publications in international journals in materials for energy applications.

Admission and Degree Requirements
- Candidates with a bachelor�s degree in Engineering with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Institution / University are eligible. Final year Graduating students can also apply.
- Students currently in their final year of undergraduate studies can also apply, however, they must have completed their graduation prior to the commencement of the program.
- Prospective candidates should visit NICMAR�s website and fill out the application. Applications are screened and admissibility is framed based on the documents submitted.
- Eligible candidates are invited to appear for the election procedure, which includes NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT), Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and Assessment of Application.
