The Executive MBA in Project Risk Management and Insurance (PRMI) is a two-year, four-semester program designed for working professionals, offering a total of 82 credits. The program combines 48 credits of classroom learning with 4 credits for a Mini Project, 8 credits for a Final Project & Dissertation, 8 credits through MOOCs (NPTEL/SWAYAM), and 14 work-based credits earned through real-world application. It follows an executive-friendly format with weekend classes and includes 10 days of intensive campus immersion each semester, totaling 40 days. This industry-aligned program integrates project management, enterprise risk, and insurance, enabling professionals to lead complex projects, manage risks strategically, and design insurance solutions. The degree is awarded by NICMAR University of Construction Studies, Hyderabad.

Dr. K V Prasad, Head-Executive Education

An alumnus of NICMAR, with a Master’s degree (By Research) & PhD in Lean Construction Management from the Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), has over 17 years of professional experience and is passionate about imparting quality education. His interest areas include Project Risk Management, Public-Private Partnerships, Estimation, Mass Rapid Transit Systems, Lean Construction Management, Building Information Modeling and Digitization, Special Construction Methods etc.

Prior to joining NICMAR in 2020, he was associated with Hindustan Construction Company Limited (HCC) for nearly 13 years. He has published several research papers in various journals of repute, and also has authored a book – “Building Big: Art of Passionately Delivering World Class Infrastructure Projects”.

    The programme is designed to be highly interactive and industry-oriented, combining conceptual learning with practical application. Sessions are delivered through a blend of classroom lectures, case studies, simulations, and hands-on exercises facilitated by experienced faculty and industry experts. The programme is primarily conducted in-person mode to ensure immersive engagement, peer learning, and live interaction with faculty.

  • How are the assessments conducted?

    Assessments are conducted through a mix of assignments, case studies, quizzes, presentations, and project work. Continuous evaluation ensures participants can apply concepts to real-world scenarios and demonstrate professional competency. Semester end examinations shall be in physical mode held at NICMAR University of Construction Studies.

  • Is there a campus immersion component in the programme?

    Yes. The programme includes a campus immersion (once in each semester) module to provide participants with hands-on learning, peer interactions, and direct engagement with faculty and industry experts. During this period, participants attend workshops, case discussions, simulations, and project activities on campus. This immersive experience helps develop practical skills, networking, and a deeper understanding of complex project scenarios.

  • What are the class timings?

    The classes are conducted on Sundays at campus, usually from 9 am to 5 pm.

  • What happens when I miss a class? Can I get in touch with the faculty?

    Participants are encouraged to reach out to the faculty for clarifications or guidance during designated consultation hours or via email. The programme promotes continuous engagement and ensures that learning support is available even outside classroom sessions.

  • How are the course materials provided?

    The respective faculty teaching a course shall send soft copies of lecture materials, case studies, papers, and presentations by e-mail and/or upload the same in the learning management system portal. No hard copies of the material shall be provided/couriered.

  • Is there any placement assistance for the program?

    This programme is designed to upskill working professionals, enhance their domain expertise, and enable them to explore alternative or advanced career paths within the industry. As it focuses on professional development rather than campus recruitment, formal placement assistance is not provided. However, participants may benefit from networking opportunities and industry interactions during the programme.

  • Will the participants be considered as NICMAR Alumni and can they visit the campus?

    Upon successfully completing the programme, the participants shall be considered the Executive Alumni of NICMAR Hyderabad and can visit the campus with the ID card provided at any time.
