    The course intends to promote learner development on (i) energy reforms at geopolitical, functional and sectoral levels (ii) energy projects as vehicles of delivering energy reforms and (iii) energy planning.

  • Energy Management and Conservation

    Learn about the various methods to benchmark the energy consumption pattern of electrical/mechanical equipment and technologies. Learn to calculate and develop charts related to energy efficiency across sectors, perform energy audit, and upskill on conservation techniques.

  • Project Appraisal and Social-Cost-Benefit-Analysis

    Learn how to link strategy with project appraisal decisions. Also discover methods to apply, analyze, and evaluate the technical, market, economic, ecological, social, and financial viability of projects.

  • Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Energy Systems

  • Research Methodology and Project Seminar

    The course gives an understanding of the research methods that can be adopted for independent research work. You are required to select a topic related to energy / sustainability for your project work, and develop a research framework for it. Work on this project lasts from Semester 2 through Semester 4.

Our leader

Dr. J. S. Sudarsan
Program Director, MBA SEM

An Assistant Professor at the School of Energy and Environment, NICMAR, Pune, Dr. Sudarsan is a Chartered Civil Engineer with many laurels to his name. Along with holding a doctorate in Environmental Engineering, a postgraduate degree in Environmental Engineering, and a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Safety, he has spent over 20 years in teaching research and consultancy. Some of the research projects he has handled were sponsored by BARC, QCI, and DST Government of India. An active partaker in several national and international conferences over the years, Dr. Sudarsan has also published two patents and contributed over 84 papers in SCOPUS indexed journals. He has also co-authored two books related to construction materials and repair and rehabilitation of structures.

Dr. Sudarsan is a proud recipient of multiple awards such as Emerging Sustainability Professional Award 2022, Research Mentor cash award from American Chemical Society (ACS) USA, Research Excellence award by InSc (Institute of Scholars), Eminent Researcher award by I2OR Organization, India, and Research Incentive cash award from SRM institute of Science and Technology. A frequent guest lecturer on varied topics such as Disaster Risk Reduction, Constructed Wetland as Novel technique for Wastewater management, Environmental Impact assessment, Dr. Sudarsan’s array of credentials also include organizing several training programs, workshops, and conferences in the areas of disaster management and environment protection and awareness at both national and international levels.

Admission Requirements

  • Candidates with a regular bachelor’s degree in Engineering in any discipline from a recognised Institution / University are eligible. Industry sponsored candidates with the above criteria are also eligible. Candidates seeking admission are required to have secured minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% for the candidates from reserved category) at graduation level.
  • Final year graduating students can also apply. However, such candidates must have completed (passed) their Graduation before the commencement of programme.
  • Eligible candidates will be invited to appear for the selection procedure, which comprises Post Graduate NICMAR Common Admission Test (PG-NCAT), Group Discussion (GD), Personal Interview (PI) and Rating of Application (RA).
